Happy Sunday Everyone!!! Today we are joining Kim @ It’s All About The Thrill and Christina @ Recipe and A Read with another Sunday Sneak Peek where we take a look inside a highly anticipated upcoming group read and give a little sneak peek into our thoughts and just how excited we are to read this book.
Today, we have two books we are taking a sneak peek into. I added Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone to the Traveling Friends group after a suggestion from a friend. Kim’s review clinched the deal and Christina and I are doing the cheer of excitement for the upcoming read. Lately, Kim has been keeping me on my toes and she spotted The Hiding Place by C.J. Tudor on NetGalley and we quickly were able to add that one to our shelve. Kim recently finished up a Traveling Friends group read for Chalk Man and loved it! So we are now doing the cheer of excitement over this one.
Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone
A double life with a single purpose: revenge.
Jane’s days at a Midwest insurance company are perfectly ordinary. She blends in well, unremarkably pretty in her floral-print dresses and extra efficient at her low-level job. She’s just the kind of woman middle manager Steven Hepsworth likes—meek, insecure, and willing to defer to a man. No one has any idea who Jane really is. Least of all Steven.
But plain Jane is hiding something. And Steven’s bringing out the worst in her.
Nothing can distract Jane from going straight for his heart: allowing herself to be seduced into Steven’s bed, to insinuate herself into his career and his family, and to expose all his dirty secrets. It’s time for Jane to dig out everything that matters to Steven. So she can take it all away.
Just as he did to her.
The thrilling second novel from the author of The Chalk Man, about a teacher with a hidden agenda who returns to settle scores at a school he once attended, only to uncover a darker secret than he could have imagined.
Joe never wanted to come back to Arnhill. After the way things ended with his old gang–the betrayal, the suicide, the murder–and after what happened when his sister went missing, the last thing he wanted to do was return to his hometown. But Joe doesn’t have a choice. Because judging by what was done to that poor Morton kid, what happened all those years ago to Joe’s sister is happening again. And only Joe knows who is really at fault.
Lying his way into a teaching job at his former high school is the easy part. Facing off with former friends who are none too happy to have him back in town–while avoiding the enemies he’s made in the years since–is tougher. But the hardest part of all will be returning to that abandoned mine where it all went wrong and his life changed forever, and finally confronting the shocking, horrifying truth about Arnhill, his sister, and himself. Because for Joe, the worst moment of his life wasn’t the day his sister went missing.
It was the day she came back.
For more of a sneak peek into Jane Joe a couple reviews caught my eye

With the same virtuosic command of character and pacing she displayed in The Chalk Man, CJ Tudor has once again crafted an extraordinary novel that brilliantly blends harrowing psychological suspense, a devilishly puzzling mystery, and enough shocks and thrills to satisfy even the most seasoned reader.

I was interested in The Chalk Man but a little hesitant because I’m not a huge fan of people lying their way into positions of authority. Might have to check it out though, since you said it’s good 😊
